Reading Rhythms Circle

Where Reading Becomes Presence

Answers for families who want reading to feel natural again, as well as intentional, present, and deeply connected.

You don’t need another generic parenting tip.

You need someone who can recognize the pattern beneath the resistance and help you respond with clarity.

A live monthly Q&A circle and async support community for parents of children ages 3–10.

I help you understand the patterns underneath

through the lens of intentional family rhythms:

Read the Clues

Reset the Story

Return to Rhythm

Maybe this sounds familiar…

Reading feels like another task to check off, not a moment to savor.

My child resists every time I suggest reading. I dread bringing it up.

They can decode perfectly but they hate books. I don't understand.

Screens win every time. I don't know how to compete.

I have a house full of books no one touches. I feel like I'm failing.

Why traditional reading advice fails

The problem isn't always reading

It’s the pressure around it.

The emotional pattern underneath it.

Most reading advice focuses on:

  • motivation

  • consistency

  • incentives

  • more reading time

But when reading has become tangled with:

  • correction

  • exhaustion

  • pressure

  • disconnection

  • overwhelm

More strategies usually make it heavier.

The goal isn’t forcing more reading.

It’s rebuilding the conditions that allow reading to feel natural and intentional again.

Is this for you?

You know reading matters.

You just can't figure out why it keeps, not happening or why it always feels harder than it should.

  • Your child can read, but won't, not for pleasure, not without a battle

  • You intend to read together every day and somehow it never happens

  • Screens have quietly filled every gap that reading used to live in

  • You've tried reward charts, special books, cozy reading corners. Nothing sticks.

  • You used to love reading and you're not sure when you stopped passing that on

  • You want real, specific strategies, not generic advice, from someone who actually knows

Hi, I'm Mariah

Mom · Credentialed Educational Specialist · Pattern Reader

For more than 26 years I’ve worked with children ages 3–10, and the families trying to help them love reading without turning it into another battle.

I also have something more personal: I raised/raising kids who read daily, voraciously, voluntarily, they'd read all day if left to their own devices.

There's no forcing or complicated systems.

I found their natural reading rhythm. Reading became our intentional practice. Our way of being present. Our rhythm.

What I’ve learned is this:

Children rarely resist reading for the reasons parents think they do.

Reading struggles are often tangled up with:

  • pressure

  • exhaustion

  • correction

  • disconnection

  • rhythms that no longer fit the season a family is in

The goal is returning reading to a place of relationship, curiosity, and connection.

The Reading Rhythms Circle is where my knowledge meets your real life.

You bring the question.
I help you read the clues, reset the story, and return to rhythm.

The Pattern Can Shift

Reading does not have to feel: forced, fragile, exhausting or one more thing to manage

Sometimes what families need most isn’t another strategy

It’s someone who can help them see what’s actually happening underneath the struggle and guide them back to a rhythm that fits.

This is how reading comes home again, as an intentional, present, connected practice.
