Meditation: How Important It Is For Our Youth

I have a question for you. Have you ever thought about how your children’s life would be more amazing if they get to practice meditation and mindfulness?

Research

If you do your own search, you’ll find that 6.1 million youth from the ages of 2-17 have attention deficit that’s 9.4% of our youth, as stated by the CDC.

Not Enough Attention

When children don’t have enough attention they loose self control, they can’t control their mind. Not only that they don’t take time to process information which will lead to peer pressure, which could lead to them making decisions that are detrimental to them.

Reduces Abilities

The other part of it is it actually reduces their ability to listen properly to what they have been told. It’s very hard for them to hold onto instructions and that could lead to a form of rebellion because when a parent is telling them something the child is not really listening. It takes a lot of attention to really listen to what their parent is saying, but with attention difficulties in the younger generation there are a lot of consequences.

Consequences of Attention Difficulties

In addition to that most of you listening to me notice that when a child has attention difficulties these are the consequences:

  • impulsiveness,

  • relationship difficulties,

  • restlessness,

  • behavioral problems,

  • temper tantrums,

  • stress and anxiety,

  • sleep problems,

  • and melt downs to name a few.

Hi my name is Mariah Odegaard
I’ve been working with children for more than 24 years. I started as a volunteer, I’ve tutored children, I teach children, and I’m working with children in my Children’s Mindfulness Academy program to help them. Through mindfulness, meditation, creative writing, problem solving skills, and I also bring parents in to involve them in the process to create heartfelt connections with their children.

When Children Regulate Their Attention:

This is what happens when your children are able to regulate their attention, to expand their attention through meditation and mindfulness. This is what happens:

  • being present and aware,

  • getting along with others,

  • increased focus and concentration,

  • positive emotional state,

  • resiliency,

  • a positive mental attitude and

  • improving self-esteem,

  • sleep better,

  • and effective self-regulation skills to name a few.

Amazing Results

Imagine, you the parent and your children go through this process and you get to have all these results. What an amazing life it will be.
